Account Information

When you sign in with Google OAuth we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. If you subscribe via our email capture modal without signing in, we store your email address.

Analytics Data

We use Vercel Analytics and custom event tracking that may collect:

• Visitor ID and session ID (anonymous identifiers)
• Device type, browser, and operating system
• Page views, scroll depth, and session duration
• Referrer URL

Learning Progress

Your learning progress is primarily stored in your browser using IndexedDB and localStorage. This includes completed lessons, SRS (spaced repetition) card states, XP points, achievements, and game scores. If you are signed in, some progress data may be synced to our server database.

Geolocation (Approximate)

We may infer your approximate country and city from request headers provided by our hosting platform (Vercel). This is used for content localisation and is never precise geolocation.

• Personalization: Adapting content to your CEFR level and learning history.
• Adaptive Learning Engine: Powering the spaced-repetition system and recommending lessons.
• Progress Tracking: Showing your XP, streaks, achievements, and leaderboard rank.
• Communication: Sending occasional email updates if you have subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• Service Improvement: Analysing aggregate usage patterns to improve content and fix issues.

Each processor is bound by their own privacy policy and data processing agreements.

• Analytics events: Retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
• Account data: Kept until you request deletion.
• localStorage / IndexedDB: Stored in your browser until you clear your browser data or use our in-app settings to reset.

7. Barns personvern / Children's Privacy

HjemVei is an educational platform and may be used by learners of all ages. However, we do not intentionally collect personal data from children under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 8. Dataoverforing / International Data Transfers

Our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) and database provider (Neon) primarily operate in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), it is protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the European Commission, ensuring an adequate level of data protection.
